To select a receipt printer for your BarTab iPad you will first need to physically set up and connect the printer you want them to print to.
- For a Star Direct Connect printer see - Setting up your Star Micronics TSP143IIU printer & cash drawer
- For a Star network printer see - Setting up your Star Micronics TSP143LAN & cash drawer
Once the printer is physically set up and online you can follow the below steps to select it as a receipt printer.
On your BarTab EPOS iPad, go to the admin screen and press "Printers"
You will now see three printers called ‘Printer’, ‘Auto Print Food’, and ‘Auto Print Drink’. Select ‘Printer’ by pressing on the light blue ‘Change’ button next to that option.
BarTab will now search for available printers. These could include:
- Ethernet printers – printers that connect to an ethernet port on your network. Note, these will need to be on the same network as the wireless network that your iPad is connected to in order to be discovered.
- USB (Direct connect) printers – connects directly to the iPad using the lightning cable
Any printers that are discovered will be displayed in the search box. You will be able to identify your printer in this list either by the model number or IP address (see obtaining a printers IP address).
Note, USB Direct connect printers will not display an IP address, only the model number.
You will now see the printer you selected next to 'Printer' on the Printers screen. Any receipts you print from this iPad will now print to the selected printer and the cash drawer connected to the printer will kick for cash transactions. (Note, if you would like the cash drawer to kick for all transactions, ask on your WhatsApp support channel or email firstname.lastname@example.org).
By default BarTab will only print a receipt if specifically requested (the reprint receipt button is pressed). If you would like receipts to be printed for all transactions or to be prompted on each transaction you can change this in BarTab settings.
If you need to remove change or remove the printer you can do so by pressing the change button again. Selecting "None" will remove the printer and stop drink orders from printing automatically.
